The UNIQLO Ginza store represents the very essence of UNIQLO in Japan. And now the refurbished, new-look store is to reopen its doors on Friday October 2, 2009. The new Ginza mega store is more than 1.5 times the size of its predecessor as additional rented space in the adjacent building expands the existing store’s shop floor to over 2,300sqm.

The reopening of the bigger, better Ginza store this autumn marks a further acceleration in UNIQLO’s new large-format store strategy.

Friday October 2 sees the reopening of the UNIQLO Ginza store as a 2,300sqm mega store

UNIQLO is pressing ahead with its large-format store strategy, and this autumn brings the reopening of our most prominent UNIQLO Ginza store, transformed into a bigger, better mega store. Four years has passed since the opening of the original Ginza store in October 2005. During that period the store has won support from customers becoming UNIQLO’s most prominent, representative store in Japan.

The new UNIQLO Ginza store will open its doors on Friday, October 2, 2009. We have expanded the shop floor area by renting a section of the Morinaga Ginza 5-chome building located to the right of the Ginza Washington building where the original store is housed. The new UNIQLO Ginza store will operate the two buildings together as a 2,300sqm mega store with the Ginza Washington building housing our women’s collection and the Morinaga Ginza 5-chome building housing our ranges for men. With a shop floor more than 1.5 times the size of the original store to play with, the new store is designed to make shopping fun for our customers.

Unveiling of the new  logo Collection

To mark the opening of the New UNIQLO Ginza store, we will be launching our new  logo Collection created with the world-famous designer Ms. Jil Sander. Based on the concept of “Open the Future”, the long-awaited collection offers her creative concepts such as “Luxury will be simplicity”, “Purity is design, beauty and comfort for all”, “Quality for the people”, and ” Basics are the common language “.

Adjoining mainstay brand outlet for FAST RETAILING group company CABIN

The new UNIQLO Ginza store is the perfect place for new experiments. Women’s wear on the third floor will also offer an outlet for FAST RETAILING group company women’s fashion developer CABIN and its the mainstay ZAZIE and enraciné brands. Hand-picked products from both brands will be presented in a display depicting each brand’s own interpretation of the world. The unique display should accentuate the individual appeal of the UNIQLO, ZAZIE and enraciné brands.

Further acceleration of mega store strategy

Beginning with the renewal of the Ginza store this autumn, UNIQLO is continuing its aggressive opening of new large-format stores. Future major projects include the opening of our Nagoya Sakae store in Nagoya city planned for Friday, October 23. This will be followed in the spring of 2010 by the opening of our Shibuya Prime Store (tentative name) in Dogenzaka, Shibuya, Tokyo, and then the planned opening of a mega store in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi in autumn 2010.
