UNIQLO parent company, Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. offers heartfelt sympathies to everyone affected by Hurricane Lala. The company would also like to acknowledge those working tirelessly on recovery efforts, and sincerely hopes for the safety of all those impacted, and for the swift reconstruction of affected communities. To support emergency relief efforts, Tadashi Yanai, UNIQLO founder, and Fast Retailing Chairman, President and CEO will personally donate a total of $3 million to support those affected by the hurricane. In addition, UNIQLO USA will donate up to 50,000 items of clothing to those in need.

The donations will be made through Aloha United Way, a non-profit organization that supports communities through food, shelter, financial assistance and more; Hawai'i Community Foundation, which supports communities through grants and other initiatives; Global Empowerment Mission, a humanitarian aid organization that provides urgent disaster relief; and Hawaiian Council, a non-profit organization that supports the cultural, economic and community development of Native Hawaiians, to help those affected by the disaster.

"We were deeply saddened at the devastation caused by Hurricane Lala, and wanted to act quickly to support affected communities and contribute to ongoing relief efforts," said Fast Retailing Chairman, President and CEO Tadashi Yanai. "Hawai'i is a very special place to me personally. I would like to express our great respect and gratitude for those leading response efforts and hope for a safe and rapid recovery for those affected."

"We are deeply grateful to Mr. Tadashi Yanai and Fast Retailing for standing with Hawai'i during this difficult time," said Hawai'i Governor Josh Green. "This extraordinary $3 million contribution and donation of up to 50,000 items of clothing will help meet the immediate needs of families affected by Hurricane Lala - and will support our communities as they recover and rebuild. The compassion shown by our friends and partners around the world is a powerful reminder to our people that they are not facing this recovery alone."

Going forward, Fast Retailing will continue its support efforts based on the evolving needs and circumstances of the affected areas, helping those affected by the disaster regain a sense of security and normalcy in their daily lives as soon as possible.
