UNIQLO Proudly Supports the Japan National Team's Participation in the Special Olympics 2011 World Summer Games

UNIQLO has supported Special Olympics Nippon in various capacities since 2002 and is pleased to be supplying the Japanese National Team's official uniforms for the 2011 World Summer Games in Athens, Greece from June 25 to July 4, 2011.

In the past, UNIQLO has support Special Olympics Nippon in a number of ways, including through the donation of uniforms for use at the Special Olympics around the world, as well as through employees volunteering at events within Japan.

This year, the UNIQLO will again assist the Japanese National Team and has pledged to provide at no cost official uniforms for the 75 members who will be attending the 2011 World Summer Games in Athens. A total of 300 articles of summer clothing will be donated in the form of four items: Dry Easy Short Sleeve Oxford Shirts, Zip Up Parkas, Striped Crew Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirts and Chino Pants.

UNIQLO looks forward to continuing to support the Special Olympics in the future.

UNIQLO Support Initiatives

Aug. 2002 : Donated 7,000 T-shirts for use by volunteers at the National Summer Games in Tokyo
June 2003 : Donated 85 official uniform sets to the Japanese National Team that participated in the World Summer Games in Ireland
Feb. 2004 : Donated 2,500 sets of light Airtech jackets and caps for use by volunteers and as staff uniforms at the National Winter Games
Feb. 2005 : Donated 150 official uniform sets to the Japanese National Team that participated in the World Winter Games in Nagano Prefecture. Also donated 17,000 articles of Airtech jackets and other apparel for use as volunteer and staff uniforms
Nov. 2006 : Donated 3,500 windbreakers for use as volunteer and staff uniforms at the Summer National Games held in Kumamoto Prefecture
Sept. 2007 : Donated 122 official uniform sets to the Japanese National Team that participated in the World Summer Games held in Shanghai, China
Mar. 2008 : Donated 3,000 soft Airtech jackets for use by volunteers and as staff uniforms at the National Winter Games
Feb. 2009 : Donated 87 official uniforms to the Japanese National Team that participated in the World Winter Games in Idaho, U.S.
Nov. 2010 : Donated 4,200 Zip Up Parkas for volunteer use and as staff uniforms at the National Summer Games in Osaka

Special Olympics : Special Olympics is an international sporting organization that provides athletes with intellectual disabilities with training opportunities and tournaments where they can display their athletic skills throughout the year.
Notes:
Special Olympics 2011 World Summer Games in Athens, Greece : Special Olympics World Summer Games and World Winter Games are each held every four years. The 2011 World Games will be held in Athens, Greece. About 7,500 athletes from 185 countries and regions are scheduled to participate.
