Donation to the Momo-Kaki Orphans Fund for Orphans of the Great East Japan Earthquake

Fast Retailing today announced it will donate funds to support the Momo-Kaki Scholarship Foundation's Momo-Kaki Orphans Fund for orphans of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the establishment of which was also made public today. Famed architect Tadao Ando will chair the fund's operating committee. Fast Retailing President and Chairman Tadashi Yanai will be involved in the capacity of a founding member of the new fund. Fast Retailing will make an initial contribution of approximately 220 million yen, which will be used to help cover the fund's operating costs.
The donations will be made using money from a disaster-aid fundraising program held at domestic UNIQLO stores held twice, April 9 to 10 and April 23 to May 8, during which 100 yen was set aside for each purchase of designated UNIQLO products. In this way, the goodwill of UNIQLO customers will help those affected by the March 11 earthquake and resulting disaster.

Note: Of the funds, 227,268, 500 yen will be donated to the Momo-Kaki Scholarship Foundation's Momo-Kaki Orphans Fund and 5 million yen will be donated to organizations including the Japanese Red Cross Society.
