Fast Retailing extends its heartfelt sympathy to those who have lost loved ones due to COVID-19 or who have been ill with the virus.
To help safeguard the health and environments of our customers, production partners, employees, and communities, we are seeking to confront this unprecedented crisis, and to make a contribution to the global community through a number of initiatives detailed below.
Supporting Communities
Fast Retailing is providing support to different people impacted by COVID-19. We started donating masks to organizations including medical facilities in Japan and other nations, and expanded the donation of masks to organizations with which UNIQLO’s global brand ambassadors are affiliated and other sports-related groups worldwide, including our official global partners, the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic Committees. We are now also working to assist through clothing, responding to requests from central and local authorities, international organizations, and non-profit organizations. This includes donations of UNIQLO AIRIsm and HEATTECH as well as isolation gowns.

Measures to Combat COVID-19 at Stores
We have decided to temporarily close some stores across our global network or to operate shorter opening hours, depending on the advice and recommended measures in each specific country or location. Where possible, we continue to operate our online stores around the world, so that our customers can purchase any clothing they need from the safety of their own homes.
In Japan, we have temporarily closed some of our stores or are operating with shortened opening hours. We are also engaging with central and local authorities to understand and implement measures that prevent the further spread of COVID-19. We continue to operate our official online stores to ensure customers can purchase any clothing they need from the safety of their own homes. To prioritize the health of our customers and staff above all else, we adhere strictly to the following rules relating to store operations:
- We actively promote hygiene awareness and behavior with our store teams, asking employees to wear masks, gargle, and wash and sanitize hands regularly.
- We will measure our employees’ temperature and confirm they are in general good health before they enter our stores. We will not permit employees who are running a fever or displaying cold symptoms to work on the premises.
- We frequently and thoroughly clean surfaces in our stores with disinfectant.
- To maintain social distancing, we ask customers to maintain a safe personal distance when queuing for the cash register or fitting rooms, and, if necessary, we restrict the number of customers entering a store at any one time.
- We also ask customers to put on a mask before coming into our stores.
- We ask customers to cooperate with body temperature scanning at entrances to our stores, which will be introduced gradually across our store network, and to understand that customers with temperatures of 37.5℃ or higher will be unable to enter.
