UNIQLO today unveils the official apparel to be worn by the Swedish national team at the global sporting event scheduled to be held in Italy in 2026. This will be the fourth consecutive major event since the partnership was established in January 2019 at which UNIQLO provides official apparel to Sweden. This LifeWear collection, designed under the concept of "Grace. Strength. Unity.", will feature high functionality and comfort to withstand temperature fluctuations across multiple host cities, as well as a simple, beautiful and sophisticated design inspired by Swedish culture, to support the athletes' performance and unity.
Swedish athletes modeling their new uniforms
The partnership between the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic Committee and UNIQLO is now in its seventh year. To develop more comfortable clothing than in previous competitions, the materials have been improved and the fit has been adjusted down to the millimeter based on monitor tests and feedback from athletes. In addition to utilizing Uniqlo's signature high-performance materials, such as moisture-wicking and heat-generating HEATTECH, and the functional insulating material PUFFTECH that provides warmth, the partnership has incorporated Toray Industries' waterproof and breathable material 'Dermizax®' into jackets and pants for the opening and closing ceremonies. This special material achieves high levels of waterproofness, breathability, and low condensation, ensuring quality that can withstand the harsh winter climate.
UNIQLO's sustainability efforts when creating uniforms for the Swedish team are an important testing ground for future product development. In this official collection, we have expanded the use of recycled materials, incorporated new ways to disclose origin information, and will collect and reuse the uniforms after the event.
Comment from Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President & CEO of UNIQLO parent company, Fast Retailing Co., Ltd
"We are delighted to have provided official apparel for the Swedish national team for four consecutive Games and to be able to support them through the power of clothing. We are also deeply grateful for our long-standing partnership with the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic Committees, which has enabled us to not only support the team at the Games, but to continue working together on initiatives to nurture the next generation. We look forward to seeing athletes wearing UNIQLO achieve brilliant results on the world stage in 2026."
Sustainability Initiatives
Approximately 42% of materials with low greenhouse gas emissions used.
Recycled padding is also adopted.
In this official collection, the proportion of materials with low greenhouse gas emissions used in all materials has significantly increased from about 33% at the 2022 Beijing event to about 42%. The high-performance padding PUFFTECH uses 50% recycled polyester and has been newly adopted for three items. The hybrid down coat incorporates 100% recycled down collected from UNIQLO stores and 50% recycled polyester functional padding. About 92% of the newly developed items for the collection are made of materials with low greenhouse gas emissions, including recycled materials for zippers and sewing threads.
24% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to virgin materials.
By using about 42% recycled materials and materials with low greenhouse gas emissions, we have reduced greenhouse gas emissions related to the production of raw materials for the main materials by about 24% compared to using virgin materials. This initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving material selection in collaboration with the Swedish team as part of our efforts to promote sustainability--an important pillar of our partnership and its uniform collections.
*Note: Virgin materials refer to materials that are produced based on traditional methods, whereby raw materials and are widely used. Greenhouse gas emissions are calculated with reference to registered information such as the Higg Material Sustainability Index (Higg MSI).
For the first time, UNIQLO has introduced product labels with QR codes to provide access to origin and recycling information for some of the official collection
This allows athletes to easily check information such as the country of sewing and the country of origin of the materials and return instructions after use using their smartphones. This is a trial initiative to explore new ways of disclosing information and promoting supply-chain transparency.

UNIQLO will provide LifeWear items suitable for all occasions, including ceremonies, travel, training, media appearances and time spent in the athletes' village.
