UNIQLO congratulates Global Brand Ambassador Shingo Kunieda, world number-one wheelchair tennis player*, on his victory in the singles division at the 2021 US Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament. The event was held at Flushing Meadows, New York from August 31 to September 12. UNIQLO also celebrates another grand slam doubles title for its Global Brand Ambassador, Gordon Reid, who won the tournament's men's doubles title, making history to achieve the first calendar grand slam of wheelchair tennis men's doubles.

Kunieda's win on Sunday marks his 25th singles Grand Slam title overall, for a career total of 29 men's singles titles, including the pre-Grand Slam era. The victory is Kunieda's second consecutive win at the US Open, and his eighth US Open title overall.

Following his win, Kunieda said, "I am very happy to win the US Open title-my first Grand Slam title for 2021-just eight days after winning in my home city, Tokyo. It was a demanding week for my body, but I was able to push myself thanks to great support. I would like to thank UNIQLO and my team for their excellent support."

UNIQLO also celebrates a US Open men's doubles title for Global Brand Ambassador, Gordon Reid with his doubles partner, Alfie Hewett. The win is Reid's fifth consecutive US Open doubles title, and his 17th Grand Slam title in the men's wheelchair doubles.

Following his win, Reid said, "I am glad to achieve a calendar grand slam in men's wheelchair doubles for the first time in history. I could not have made this happen without all the support, which I am thankful for. I will continue to work hard to perform at my best."

Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President and CEO of Fast Retailing, said, "We are truly honored to support Mr Kunieda and Mr Reid, our Global Brand Ambassadors, who have been such a great inspiration to UNIQLO and tennis fans over long and successful careers that continue to get better. To sustain such excellence over a long period is a perfect example of the qualities we admire in both ambassadors. We congratulate both on their success, and are proud to play a small role in that."
