Fast Retailing today formalizes its support of the new International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry. In signing the new Accord, Fast Retailing underlines its strong and ongoing commitment to making safety improvements at the facilities of all our production partners in Bangladesh - a major manufacturing location for Fast Retailing.

As with the previous Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh, which Fast Retailing signed in August 2013, the new International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry is a legally-binding agreement with independent oversight. Developed in cooperation between brands and unions, the new Accord will continue to protect the safety of at-risk workers in Bangladesh and includes scope to be expanded to other manufacturing countries in the future.

Speaking of the occasion, Yukihiro Nitta, Group Senior Vice President responsible for sustainability at Fast Retailing, said "The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh, to which Fast Retailing was a signatory, was a very successful milestone for the manufacturing industry in Bangladesh. It delivered new levels of accountability for brands and manufacturers under a framework that demonstrably raised industry standards to safeguard the safety of workers. Fast Retailing is very pleased to support the new Accord and to continue making workplaces safer for the people who help make our clothes."

The International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry takes effect today and continues through to October 2023.
