UNIQLO today announces the discontinuation of its planned UNIQLO DREAM WALL for an area of Northern Japan impacted by the March 11, 2011 earthquake, and intention to instead donate preschool playground equipment to the community.

The UNIQLO DREAM WALL Project launched in March 2014, to brighten the lives of children and contribute to community cohesion in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture. Around 100 local children and adults gathered at a series of workshops in August and September 2014 to discuss ideas for a dream playground, resulting in the UNIQLO DREAM WALL Project. However, it recently emerged that the planned construction of a road near the proposed site at Kamikama Fureai Hiroba Square in Ishinomaki would affect the DREAM WALL. UNIQLO has also received requests for playground equipment from local residents, and is responding, with plans to install in April 2015.
