Statement Regarding the Arrest of a UNIQLO Employee in Tokyo

A store manager of the UNIQLO atré Vie Otsuka store in Toshima-ku, Tokyo, has been arrested on suspicion of secretly filming customers who were using the store's fitting room.

While details of this incident are still being confirmed, we sincerely apologize for the significant distress caused to the affected persons and their families. In addition, we sincerely apologize for the trouble and concern caused to all stakeholders, including customers and related parties who trust our company and use our stores on a daily basis.

The police are currently investigating the matter, and we will fully cooperate with the investigation. We take seriously the fact that our stores should be spaces to enjoy shopping with peace of mind, and acknowledge that this incident is a violation of customer trust. After confirming the facts, we will take necessary measures as a company, such as reviewing store facilities including security cameras, and conducting thorough employee education.

Going forward, we will make concerted efforts to prevent a recurrence of similar incidents, working to restore trust in our stores so that everyone can shop with peace of mind.
