Global apparel retailer UNIQLO hosted the latest installment of its remarkable global event series, Around the World with Roger Federer. In a public event at Shanghai's historic Tian Hou Palace, renowned tennis champion Roger Federer led a special coaching session to develop promising tennis juniors from Juss Sports' Shanghai Tennis Youth Training Team. The clinic took place on a brilliant new outdoor court designed by gifted minimalist graphic artist Peng Cheng.

The Around the World with Roger Federer series is part of UNIQLO's ongoing Next Generation Development Program. This aims to connect UNIQLO and Federer with communities in great cities around the world, with an emphasis on supporting and developing young people. Excitement levels were high at the Shanghai event today, as Federer shared his tennis insight with emerging young players. They practiced on a beautiful Peng Cheng-designed tennis court within the hallowed Tian Hou Palace grounds. Clinic participants and courtside fans all enjoyed the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from one of the greatest to ever play the game of tennis.

In addition to the coaching session, juniors had a chance to interact directly with the man himself. A spirited Q&A session saw Federer explain what it takes to be successful at tennis, and life, as a professional athlete and community leader. His open, simple advice, and willingness to share all he has learned during two decades at the pinnacle of sports were deeply inspiring to all who attended.
Federer said, "Shanghai is one of the most exciting cities in the world and it was a pleasure to meet some of my fans here for UNIQLO's Around the World with Roger Federer series. I love passing on my knowledge to the next generation and hope today's event helped strengthen their tennis skills."

Another highlight of the day was a live, collaborative artwork by Zhu Jingyi, a well-known cross-media artist who creates amazing calligraphy art using Chinese characters. Zhu gave a live demonstration of large traditional calligraphy on site, to which Federer personally contributed during the event.

One of the primary objectives of this day, as with all Around the World with Roger Federer events, was to make a meaningful contribution to the community. In Shanghai, UNIQLO is working with the Soong Ching Ling Foundation, through which a donation will be made to benefit the community, including the construction of a tennis court.

John C Jay, President of Global Creative at UNIQLO parent company, Fast Retailing, capped off the memorable event, saying, "Roger's love for this city is so heartfelt. You can see how much it means to everyone here. The response from Shanghai today has been just amazing."

Yesterday's event in Shanghai marks the second installment of UNIQLO's Around the World with Roger Federer global event series, following its successful August launch in New York. For further information on Around the World with Roger Federer, please visit:
