Global apparel retailer UNIQLO today announces it has extended its partnership with the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC) and Swedish Paralympic Committee (SPC) through to the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (Milano Cortina 2026). After commencing in January 2019, the Main Partner and Official Clothing Partner agreement with the two committees will now continue through to December 2026.

Since January 2019, UNIQLO has supplied clothing and accessories to Sweden's athletes and officials at the Tokyo Summer Games in 2021 and the Beijing Winter Games in 2022. It will also provide support at the Paris Summer Games in 2024. Assistance at the Milano Cortina Winter Games in 2026 will include competition apparel and clothing and accessories for all aspects of daily living, including travel, training, opening and closing ceremonies, and medal ceremonies.

Swedish athletes wearing UNIQLO apparel impressed many with outstanding performances at international summer and winter events in 2021 and in 2022, when Swedish athletes brought in a record haul of 25 medals at the 2022 Winter Games, supported by UNIQLO.

Much more than just a sponsorship, the UNIQLO partnership with the SOC and SPC is an opportunity for all parties to collaborate and promote the shared values of quality, innovation, and sustainability around the world. In one example, the UNIQLO Dream Project engages leading athletes to inspire young people in Sweden to learn about sports and to maintain active, healthy lifestyles. As of March 2023, around 42,200 children and 600 schools in Sweden had taken part in this initiative.

Speaking on the occasion of the partnership extension, Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President & CEO of Fast Retailing, said, "The international success of Swedish athletes exemplifies the great progress in the partnership between UNIQLO and the SOC and SPC since 2019. We are honored to support Sweden's athletes and officials at Milano Cortina 2026 following their success at the Tokyo, Beijing, and Paris Games. We will continue collaborating with Sweden's world-class athletes to help build a bright and dynamic future, develop LifeWear of the future, and change the world for the better through the UNIQLO Dream Project."

  • Åsa Edlund Jönsson, Secretary General of the Swedish Olympic Committee, said, "I am deeply grateful for UNIQLO's outstanding support, which helped Sweden's teams shine in Tokyo and Beijing. We will collaborate with UNIQLO in an ongoing drive to materialize a shared vision of building a bright and dynamic future through the power of sports and clothing, always with sustainability as a guiding principle. We look forward to continue on this path of success during the games in Paris 2024 and Milano Cortina 2026."

  • Åsa Llinares Norlin, President of the Swedish Paralympic Committee, said, "We are delighted to continue our journey with UNIQLO through to Milano Cortina 2026. UNIQLO has provided the same solid support to Sweden's Paralympic and Olympic teams, helping us to participate more confidently in the Games. I believe our partnership with UNIQLO will enable us to work with all athletes to broaden the potential of para-sports, conveying the power and excellence of these pursuits and discovering the best solutions in sportswear for as many people as possible."

Peter Reinebo, Chef de Mission Swedish Olympic Committee, said, "UNIQLO's clothes contributed to the Swedish athletes' success during the Olympics in Beijing, where Sweden as a country won more medals than in any other Winter Olympics. In recent games, Swedish athletes have been successful in Japan's heat and China's cold, which shows that UNIQLO's clothes can perform well in all weather."

Niclas Grön, Chef de Mission Swedish Paralympic Committee, said, "Sweden exceeded our expectations in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. And Beijing was the best Paralympic Games for us in 20 years. This is the result of long-term work, which would not have been possible without a strong partnership with UNIQLO."
