Global apparel retailer UNIQLO today announces the start of UNIQLO ICHIRO POST, a new project conducted with baseball great Ichiro Suzuki for the development of the next generation by supporting children who are working to be their best. Ichiro has brought thrills and excitement to many people over the course of his career, and through his words and actions, this project aims to create opportunities for children to discover their passion, whether in sports or other endeavors.

For this project, UNIQLO will place "ICHIRO POST" boxes in its stores throughout Japan, and create a special website where children can send "letters" to Ichiro in response to his question, "What is it you enjoy, what challenges do you plan to face?". The messages will be delivered to Ichiro, who will encourage children as they pursue their dreams with actual visits to select kids, and responding to messages through a special website. Letters will be accepted beginning Monday, November 14th. Ichiro's activities for the ICHIRO POST will be showcased with regular updates on the special website.

Commenting on the start of ICHIRO POST, Ichiro said: "I am launching a project with UNIQLO to support children. If kids can find something to enjoy and be passionate about, they can overcome any obstacles that may arise. That leads to growth. It is my hope that more and more children will strive to be their best, not just in sports or academics. I would like the UNIQLO ICHIRO POST project to be one such source of motivation for children. I want to support the desires of each and every child. I look forward to receiving many letters."

Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President & CEO of Fast Retailing Group, said: "Ichiro has set unprecedented records, and left an indelible mark on professional baseball in the U.S. and Japan. We are extremely honored to be launching this initiative with him to further the development of the next generation. I believe that the exposure to Ichiro's words and deeds, backed by his insatiable inquiring mind and profound insights, will be an unparalleled experience for the young people who will inherit the future. Through the ICHIRO POST, we aim to support as many young people as possible in their effort to be their best, and contribute to a better future."
