UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassador and world number one* wheelchair tennis player Shingo Kunieda claimed a historic first men's singles title at Wimbledon on Sunday. Kunieda's latest title follows his triumph at the 2022 French Open in May in Paris. His maiden Wimbledon title also marks a career grand slam for Kunieda, the first time this feat has ever been achieved in the men's singles division of wheelchair tennis.

Sunday's victory brings Kunieda to a career total of 32 men's singles titles, including 28 Grand Slam singles titles and titles won in the pre-Grand Slam era. In recognition of his great achievement, Fast Retailing Group that operates UNIQLO will award a special bonus of JPY20 million to Mr. Kunieda.

Speaking of his win, Kunieda said, "I am very happy to win my first Wimbledon title. Winning here is something that I've never achieved before, but it has been a dream of mine for a long time and I have worked hard to get here. To complete a career grand slam is an important moment in my career. I wish to thank everyone who has been a part of this success, including UNIQLO for providing me with great game wear and ongoing support to bring out my very best on and off the court."

Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President and CEO of Fast Retailing, said, "We congratulate Mr. Kunieda on this historic success. We are proud to play a small role in Mr. Kunieda's first singles title at Wimbledon and on the achievement of a career grand slam. Mr. Kunieda has been such a great inspiration to UNIQLO and tennis fans over long and successful career that continues to get better. We are truly honored to support athletes of exceptional ability and strong spirits as our ambassadors."
