The Japan Tennis Association (JTA) and global apparel retailer UNIQLO have concluded a sponsorship agreement, whereby UNIQLO will supply Japan's players at this year's premier men's and women's international team tennis events. The teamwear provision starts with the World Group I for the Davis Cup on March 5 and 6, in Islamabad, Pakistan. The women's team will wear UNIQLO apparel in a Billie Jean King Cup playoff in Miki, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, on April 16 and 17.

Commenting on the announcement, Kenichiro Yamanishi, President of the Japan Tennis Association, said, "We are thrilled to sign this agreement with UNIQLO, who has supported international tennis tournaments and players in so many ways. Collaborating with UNIQLO will help the Japan Tennis Association to continue to build the national team. We hope that the partnership will contribute to progress for our sport, foster youth development, and encourage healthy lifestyles."

Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President and CEO of Fast Retailing, added, "We are honored to conclude this sponsorship agreement with the Japan Tennis Association. This is part of our ongoing commitment to tennis and our belief in its ability to make people happy. Our connection with the association began a few years ago, when it helped us hold UNIQLO LifeWear Day Tokyo. That special charity tennis match featuring UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassadors delighted all attendees. We will continue collaborating with the Japan Tennis Association to foster the development of tennis and contribute to a brighter future for humankind."

Kei Nishikori, a UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassador, said, "When I was a boy, I yearned to wear the national team's apparel, so you can imagine my delight to see this new connection between the Japan Tennis Association and UNIQLO. I'll keep doing my utmost to inspire as many children as possible to reach new heights, so they can one day fly the flag for Japan through its teamwear."

The UNIQLO Global Brand Ambassadors participating in UNIQLO LifeWear Day Tokyo in 2019 were Kei Nishikori, Roger Federer, Adam Scott, Shingo Kunieda, Ayumu Hirano, and Gordon Reid. The Japan Tennis Association enabled UNIQLO to hold the event at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, which is Japan's main tennis venue. Messrs. Federer and Nishikori conducted a session of Tennis Play + Stay, a global campaign launched by the International Tennis Federation, delighting the children who took part.
