Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., today announces it has won the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award for the best new office in Japan. The award is the ultimate prize within the Nikkei New Office Award program, co-sponsored by Nikkei Inc. and the New Office Promotion Association (NOPA).
Fast Retailing was one of only 16 applicants selected this year for a prestigious New Office Promotion Award, from a total of 129 applicants. The company's new global headquarters - UNIQLO CITY TOKYO - was selected from the 16 winning projects as the sole recipient of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. A formal award ceremony will be held on August 29 at the Keidanren Kaikan building in Otemachi, Tokyo.
The Nikkei New Office Award recognizes outstanding originality in new office environment design. The program debuted in 1988, with support from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Completed in February 2017, UNIQLO CITY TOKYO houses around 1,100 employees from all UNIQLO business units. The office is designed to stimulate creativity, collaboration, and productivity. It provides employees with the workspaces, tools and interaction needed to transform UNIQLO into a Digital Consumer Retail Company, and to complete projects end to end from inside one location to the world's best standards.
More than just an office, UNIQLO CITY TOKYO is a source of UNIQLO cultural identity that symbolizes and functions as an engine of dynamism and inspiration - it is the company's Global Innovation Center.
