UNIQLO CO., LTD.
to Japanese

UNIQLO today announces the 11 April 2014 launch of its latest Global Flagship Store, in Berlin, Germany, at Tauentzienstrasse 7.

The launch marks the global retailer from Japan's entry into the German market, and creates several hundred jobs in the city. With a total sales floor of approximately 2,700 square meters over three levels, it will be the largest UNIQLO store in Europe, featuring UNIQLO's full line of men's, women's, and kids' clothing.

"Berlin is one of the world's leading capitals. UNIQLO has successfully established itself in London, Paris and Moscow, and the time has come to continue this success in Germany," said Berndt Hauptkorn, Fast Retailing Group Officer and UNIQLO Europe CEO, "We are excited about Berlin, and the customers across our German-speaking markets."

Located on the major intersection between Tauentzienstrasse and Nuernberger Strasse, the store's street corner entrance creates an open, welcoming facade. Designed by Wonderwall, Tokyo-based interior design firm, the store will be an architectural gem in this popular shopping area, combining stainless steel with futuristic spaces, for a truly unique shopping experience. As a UNIQLO Global Flagship, the Berlin store will feature high-tech installations, including monitors, LED tickers, and revolving mannequins. In addition, furnishings by German designers associated with the Bauhaus - including Mies Van Der Rohe, Walter Gropius, and Marcel Breuer - are situated throughout the store.

UNIQLO, first established in Japan in 1984, currently has more than 1,300 stores across 14 countries worldwide, including Japan. In Europe, the company operates 18 locations across three countries - launching in the UK in 2001, France in 2007, and Russia in 2010. Germany is UNIQLO's fourth retail market in Europe, reflecting the next step in the company's European expansion.
