January 23, 2013, Tokyo, Japan - UNIQLO today announces a donation of clothing to athletes competing at the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games PyeongChang to be held January 29 through February 5, in PyeongChang and Gangneung, South Korea. UNIQLO operations in Japan, South Korea and Singapore are supplying full sets of specially designed winter clothing to the athletes representing their respective countries.
UNIQLO will provide a total of around 4,900 items of clothing featuring each team's official logos for Special Olympics athletes. Within this total, UNIQLO Japan will supply some 1,200 items, UNIQLO South Korea, 3,200, and UNIQLO Singapore, 500, to their respective national teams. Since 2002, UNIQLO has supported Special Olympics Nippon by providing apparel to athletes and sending employees to assist at events as volunteers. UNIQLO's support of the 2013 world winter games is a natural extension of its long-term commitment to the Special Olympics movement.
The Special Olympics is an international sports organization that provides opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to train and compete year-round.
