Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. offers its deepest sympathies to all those affected by flash flooding and landslides following Cyclone Senyar in late November. To support the victims of this unprecedented disaster, Fast Retailing is donating JPY 100 million (approx. USD 634,000) in monetary aid, and up to 30,000 pieces of clothing based on local needs, to organizations leading recovery efforts in Sumatra, Indonesia - the most severely-impacted region.

The monetary donation will be made through Plan International Indonesia, a non-profit organization for humanitarian response and youth development that UNIQLO in Indonesia works with for social contribution activities. Funds will be used to help rebuild public facilities, provide temporary shelter, rehabilitate water resources, construct schools, and support children's well-being. In addition, clothing support will also be distributed through Plan International Indonesia, as well as other organizations including Save the Children Indonesia, Indonesian Red Cross, and Coordinating Ministry of Community Empowerment of Indonesia.

Separately, Fast Retailing Indonesia has already donated approximately JPY 10 million and 6,500 items of clothing to people in affected areas through PLAN International Indonesia, Save the Children Indonesia, Indonesian Red Cross, and Coordinating Ministry of Community Empowerment of Indonesia for immediate relief.

Torrential rains caused by Cyclone Senyar in late November led to massive flooding in Sumatra, causing widespread damage affecting over 1 million people. Approximately 150,000 houses have been flooded, along with the destruction of thousands of health, educational, religious, and public facilities.

In other countries around the region also affected by the disaster, including Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, UNIQLO has provided financial and clothing support to local communities through partner organizations.

Fast Retailing sincerely hopes for the speedy recovery of all those affected those by the disaster, and hopes that they can return to their normal lives as soon as possible.
