UNIQLO and Japan Football Association Team Up for JFA UNIQLO SOCCER KIDS in Vietnam, in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh - Event Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Between Japan and Vietnam

Global apparel retailer UNIQLO announced today it will collaborate with the Japan Football Association (JFA) to host JFA UNIQLO SOCCER KIDS in Vietnam for the first time. Held in both Hanoi (1 July) and Ho Chi Minh (2 July), UNIQLO is special sponsor of these events, which have been created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan this year. Atsuto Uchida, former Japan national team player and ambassador of JFA UNIQLO SOCCER KIDS is confirmed to participate on both event days.

JFA UNIQLO SOCCER KIDS is a grassroots sports festival for children under the age of six. Since its inception in 2003 in Japan, more than 300,000 children have been part of the program over a 20-year period. The program enables children to participate in and enjoy football, regardless of their sports experience. The program has been held in venues all over Japan, as well as other countries such as Germany and Singapore.

Speaking of the announcement, Koji Yanai, Group Senior Executive Officer, Fast Retailing, said, "We are honored to collaborate with the JFA to host this program in Vietnam, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of relations between Vietnam and Japan. I hope children will discover a passion for football, building lifelong connections with sport and other children."

Kohzo Tashima, JFA President, said: "With support from UNIQLO, we are delighted that our event will create new connections for children from Vietnam and Japan. We hope they enjoy playing sports and learn many things through football."

On both days of JFA UNIQLO SOCCER KIDS in Vietnam, participating children will play 5-a-side game. Children wishing to attend the event can apply online until 16 June.

■ Event details

  1. *Each participant will play three 5-a-side games (including two games of 5 minutes halves).
  2. *The event is for children under the age of 6. Football or sport experience is not required.
  3. *Participation is free of charge.
  4. *Participants will be provided with special uniforms by UNIQLO to wear.
  5. *Pants, socks, shoes will not be provided.
  6. *Participants wishing to attend may apply via an online form at
