Fast Retailing announces that beginning Friday, March 12, all price representations at its brands UNIQLO and GU in Japan will be the total price including tax, with apparel sold at the price shown. This new policy is being implemented ahead of the expiration of the Act for Special Measures concerning price representations on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Of note, the displayed prices of UNIQLO and GU apparel, which up to now have been the pre-tax price, will be unchanged and regarded as the tax-inclusive price. This represents a discount of approximately 9% compared to the current price (as of March 4, 2021). Product prices shown on tags and at the brands' online stores will all be tax inclusive. Customers will be able to shop without making extra calculations, just by paying the amount indicated.

Commenting on today's announcement Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President and CEO of Fast Retailing said: "By keeping the prices of as many items as possible unchanged, and offering LifeWear at tax-inclusive, affordable prices, we hope to remain an integral part of the everyday lives of our customers. This is our mission, and the significance of our existence as an apparel company."

UNIQLO and other brands in the Fast Retailing Group recognize, and appreciate, the support they have received from customers even with so many people experiencing unprecedented difficulties because of the coronavirus pandemic.
