UNIQLO, the Japanese global apparel retailer, today announces that the Swedish national team is wearing UNIQLO clothing throughout the 10-day European Games in Minsk, Belarus, starting with the Opening Ceremony on June 21.

Comments from Team members

"The Swedish Team has gathered in Minsk for the European Games this year, and we are dressed for success. These games mark the first occasion for a senior Swedish squad to wear UNIQLO during an Opening Ceremony. We have come a long way in our collaboration with UNIQLO and in a short period of time," said Deputy Chef de Mission Mikael Gunnarzon.

"UNIQLO is an important partner of the Swedish Olympic Committee. Not only do they provide great, comfortable clothes, but their support of our Top and Talent Program makes it possible for Swedish athletes to compete at the highest level," said table tennis star Mattias Falck, who won a silver medal at the World Championships earlier this year.

UNIQLO supplies the team with 39 key items of clothing and accessories - LifeWear that offers outstanding quality, performance, and comfort. Pieces include BLOCKTECH Parkas, Supima Cotton V-neck T-shirts, and Ultra Stretch Active Ankle Pants. All have been selected from commercially available UNIQLO models, with the UNIQLO logo added and coordinated for the team.

During the Opening Ceremony, Sweden's male athletes wore AIRism Full Open Polo Shirts and White Kando Shorts. The female outfits comprised Stretch Pique Polo Shirts and White Satin Shorts. Swedish athletes will wear UNIQLO items throughout the games and at the 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, taking place July 21 through 29.

The European Games, organized by the European Olympic Committee, bring together around 4,000 elite athletes from 50 countries, to compete in 200 events in 15 sports. Sweden's 51-person team is pursuing glory in badminton, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, archery, cycling, gymnastics, judo, canoeing, karate, and shooting. The team won seven medals in the inaugural European Games four years ago. Wrestling gold medalist Sophia Mattsson, Canoeing silver medalist Petter Menning and Shooting silver medalist Stefan Nilsson join this year's competition once again.
