Fashion Show Featuring Seniors Held at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai
— WEAR LIFE, LIGHT UP THE WORLD —
On Friday, October 3, 2025, UNIQLO supported a fashion show event titled, WEAR LIFE, LIGHT UP THE WORLD, held on the outdoor stage of the Electric Power Pavilion - Eggs of Possibility space at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
The event was realized through the shared vision of UNIQLO and Dr. Emiko Kawano of the Department of General and Gastroenterological Surgery at Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University. Dr. Kawano advocates for using the power of medicine and apparel to change the concept of clothing in elderly care, medical, and nursing settings, to energize Japan and the world. UNIQLO’s belief that clothing has the power to create a brighter future future society resonates strongly with this idea, as well as aligning with the Expo’s overall theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
During the show, elderly participants took part as models. Through styling that highlighted each individual’s personality and life experience, the event conveyed the powerful message that regardless of age, background, or circumstances, people can shine in their own way and continue contributing to society.
One of the participants, Rokori—a fashion YouTuber who launched her channel at the age of 71 and surpassed one million total views in just four months—appeared in a vibrant layered outfit accented with orange; an expressive look that truly reflected her personal style.
Also appearing in the show was Teddy Dan, the first Japanese dancer to win a world championship in disco dance and widely known in the Japanese dance scene as “the god of soul.” He walked the runway in a white denim set-up and performed a sharp dance routine at center stage, captivating the audience.
Their enjoyment of fashion without being bound by age conveyed a sense of vitality and optimism, reflecting the potential for a future in which everyone can shine—especially within Japan’s aging society. The show strongly embodied the power of LifeWear, clothing designed to enrich the lives of all people.
Following the fashion show, a talk session was held featuring Dr. Emiko Kawano and a Fast Retailing employee and former member of Japan’s national deaf soccer team. Under the theme “The Power of Medicine × Apparel,” they discussed topics such as the importance of comfort and functionality in clothing, the emotional and psychological impact of what we wear, and the relationship between diversity and fashion. The session highlighted not only the functional value of clothing, but also its broader social and psychological significance.
Approximately 100 guests attended the event, which concluded with warm and enthusiastic applause. Through the power of clothing, UNIQLO will continue contributing to the realization of a future society where everyone can shine in their own way.
