Reason for Hiring

PLST (PLST) offers LifeWear that combines beautiful, everyday styles with comfortable wear, based on the concept of “everyday clothing for when you want to look put-together.”
In 2025, we welcomed Harunobu Murata as PLST’s Women’s Design Director.Mr. Murata is a highly accomplished designer who runs his own luxury fashion label, “HARUNOBUMURATA,” and has experience working at JIL SANDER. With “the democratization of luxury” as his guiding principle, he aims to make PLST the No. 1 brand in the mid-price range for LifeWear through product development that prioritizes high-quality materials and refined silhouettes.
Through our collaboration with Mr. Murata, we are seeking a designer to provide high-quality materials and refined silhouettes at prices accessible to our customers and to continuously create hit products that represent the brand. This role involves leading product planning and design quality across all departments.

Department Overview

The R&D Department, to which you will be assigned, consists of designers and patternmakers who collaborate with related departments—including Merchandising, Production, and Marketing—to handle the entire product development process, from material selection and silhouette design to wearability and mass-production quality. Our goal is to balance the elegance and practicality characteristic of PLST and establish a solid brand value in the mid-price range of LifeWear.

Job Description

As a Women’s Designer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Product Planning and Design Leadership: Based on market trends, customer feedback, and sales performance, you will propose new product ideas, seasonal themes, colors, materials, and silhouettes. You will design the product lineup across multiple categories, including woven fabrics, knits, and T-shirts.
  • Development of Key Products: You will personally plan and design key items that represent the brand, refining them through repeated sample testing and revisions to ensure the highest level of product quality.
  • Leading the Product Development Process: You will collaborate with merchandisers, patternmakers, production, material development, marketing, and suppliers to drive progress and decision-making from planning and sample creation through mass production and sales.
  • Presentations at Product Meetings: At product meetings, you will explain the design intent, product lineup, materials, colors, silhouettes, and sales strategies, and incorporate feedback from stakeholders into the product plan through discussion.

Career Path

You will be directly involved not only in design proposals but also in shaping PLST’s product lineup and the brand’s evolution.
By collaborating with experts in patternmaking, merchandising, and production, you can lead the entire product development process—from planning through mass production and sales. You will be responsible for creating PLST’s signature staple products and bestsellers while simultaneously strengthening the design team.
In the future, as Design Chief, you will be responsible for training designers, conducting reviews, and sharing technical expertise and insights. We expect you to play a leading role in driving the organization and business forward by enhancing the planning and design capabilities of the entire team while leveraging each member’s individual expertise.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

  • Practical experience (approximately 5 years or more) as a women’s apparel designer, having consistently driven the entire process from product planning through design to mass production
  • Experience managing product composition and design across multiple categories, such as woven, knit, and T-shirts
  • Planning ability to analyze market trends, customer preferences, and sales performance, and translate them into well-founded, marketable products
  • Leadership experience in reviewing the planning and design work of a design team or multiple team members to enhance quality

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • English proficiency: Ability to read and write documents and emails in English

Work Conditions

Company Name: PLST Co., Ltd.

Employment Type: Contract Employee (fixed-term, with a 3-month probationary period)

(Depending on your performance and evaluation during the first year of your contract as a contract employee, if you meet our criteria for full-time employment, we will consider hiring you as a full-time employee starting in the second year.)
* The employment contract as a contract employee will end after a one-year term and will not be renewed.
* If you are not hired as a regular employee, the employment contract will terminate upon expiration of the contract period

Annual Salary

  • Annual Salary Range: 7.04–12.06 million yen (Monthly Salary: 440,000–670,000 yen)
  • Allowances: Commuting allowance, overtime pay, etc. (*All subject to company regulations)
  • Bonuses: Semi-annual bonuses twice a year, year-end bonus (eligibility and amount determined based on company performance and performance evaluations)
  • Promotions twice a year (determined based on performance evaluations)
*Salary will be determined based on company regulations, taking into account your previous annual income and experience, and is not limited to the figures listed above.

Working Hours

Flexible work hours, or for managerial and supervisory positions

Standard daily working hours: 8 hours; Break: 1 hour
Core hours…9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Flexible hours…6:00–9:00 and 14:00–20:00; overtime work may be required

Based on the working hours of the employee’s department, with the decision left to the employee

Holidays and Leave

Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays; national holidays are considered workdays). Annual paid leave, special leave (including leave for weddings and bereavement), and childcare and family care leave programs, etc.
*In addition to paid leave, special leave is granted in the first and second halves of the fiscal year (the number of days granted varies depending on employment status and the company to which the employee belongs)
