Job Description

■Recruitment Background:
“MADE FOR ALL.” There are many different kinds of clothing in the world, but UNIQLO has a completely new approach to fashion.
Clothing for everyone, transcending all distinctions such as nationality, age, occupation, and gender. We aim to create clothing that people around the world can easily purchase, serving as tools for their lifestyles and making them look their best.
The R&D Department is a team of experts dedicated to bringing our “LifeWear” concept to life through products. We are seeking new team members to help further evolve the creation of clothing that embodies “LifeWear.”

■ Department Overview:
The R&D Department, where you will be assigned, is a team of experts dedicated to bringing the "LifeWear" concept to life through products. Our in-house designers and patternmakers are active across six global locations centered in Tokyo (Tokyo/Shanghai/Paris/London/NY/LA).We plan products that align with people’s living environments, lifestyles, and the times, and translate designs driven by real-world needs into the “LifeWear” concept. We aim to continuously provide well-thought-out, simple clothing to improve and enrich the lives of people around the world. Through clothing, we strive to continuously drive innovation in society.

■Job Description:
You will be responsible for designing knitwear items. Specifically, your duties will include the following:
・Creating MAPs (product catalogs)
・Creating design sketches
・Preparing specifications
・Selecting fabrics and materials
・Issuing instructions to partner factories
・Quality control through coordination between the Production Department and factories

Qualifications

■ Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities
・At least 5 years of experience in independently designing knitwear for women’s, men’s, and children’s collections, including sample creation and specification drafting
・Ability to manage the entire process from product planning through design to mass production while overseeing multiple items (including hands-on experience in designing, commissioning, and placing orders with factories)
・Ability to grasp domestic and international trends, lifestyles, and consumer needs within a global product development context and translate them into design concepts

■Preferred Experience, Skills, and Abilities
・You must be comfortable communicating in English both internally and externally for work purposes, including emails and daily conversations (e.g., specifications, instructions to factories, internal meetings, etc.)

Work Conditions

Company Name: UNIQLO Co., Ltd.

■Employment Type: Contract Employee (Fixed-term contract with a 3-month probationary period)
(Assuming that, starting from the second year, if performance and evaluations meet the criteria for regular employment, the employee will be converted to a regular employee)

*Employment contracts may be renewed based on the company’s operational needs and the employee’s performance (no automatic renewal).
*There is no upper limit on contract renewals (in terms of total duration or number of renewals).

■Annual Salary
・Annual Salary Range: 3.5–10 million yen (Monthly Salary: 240,000–570,000 yen)
・Allowances: Commuting allowance, overtime pay, etc. (※All subject to company regulations)
・Bonuses: Semi-annual bonuses twice a year, year-end bonus (eligibility and amount determined based on company performance and performance evaluations)
・Promotions twice a year (determined based on performance evaluations)
*Salary will be determined based on company regulations, taking into account your previous annual income and experience, and is not limited to the figures listed above.

■ Working Hours
Standard working hours, flextime system, or managerial/supervisory status (determined based on job duties, expected role, and assigned department; details will be provided during the job offer interview)

・Standard Working Hours System
8 hours of actual work and 1-hour break between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM

・Flexible Work Hours System
Standard daily working hours: 8 hours; Break: 1 hour
Core hours: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
Flexible hours: 6:00 AM–9:00 AM and 2:00 PM–8:00 PM (Overtime work may occur)

・Supervisors
Based on the working hours of the employee’s department, with the decision left to the employee

■ Holidays and Leave
Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays), annual paid leave, special and bereavement leave, childcare and nursing care leave systems, etc.

*Whether public holidays are considered days off in addition to the days off listed above will be specified individually in the contract for part-time employees
*In addition to paid leave, special leave is granted during the first and second half of the fiscal year (the number of days granted varies depending on employment status and the company to which the employee belongs)
