■Recruitment Background
UNIQLO aims to improve the lives of customers worldwide through LifeWear, guided by our corporate philosophy: "Change clothes, change common sense, change the world."The Product Planning Department is the engine that brings this philosophy and vision to life. Collaborating with Merchandisers who develop products like HEATTECH and AIRism that dramatically change people's lives, we formulate and drive optimal global business plans, pursuing value for customers and society. We are seeking someone who can lead the product planning domain by merging the passion to provide better clothing and services to customers worldwide with a business-oriented growth strategy.
■Department Overview
・The Product Planning Department, where you will be assigned, has the mission to "simultaneously and healthily enhance customer and field satisfaction, as well as company profitability."
・The organization is divided into Japan Business and Overseas Business. Each member analyzes their assigned products from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives—examining past performance and future outlook—to formulate and execute strategies, from setting product budgets to selling out inventory.
■Job Description
You will be responsible for a designated category within UNIQLO's entire product range (Women's, Men's, Kids', Goods, Innerwear, etc.). You will lead the end-to-end planning and execution of the entire business cycle: setting sales budgets, creating sales plans (seasonal and monthly), developing production plans, and forecasting demand (weekly).
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Analyze market conditions and formulate strategies/tactics to achieve targets. Establish product management KPIs (SKU count, pricing) for executing strategies and tactics.
2. Develop product budgets: Create portfolios by month/season/department for sales, gross profit, cost ratio, and discount rate.
3. Scrutinize product plans: Review plans developed by MDs (Merchandisers) using a more quantitative/logical approach based on actual results to improve plan quality.
4. Demand Forecasting/Sales Planning: Develop and validate product-specific demand forecasts for the plans in step 3, proposing revisions to MDs. Collaborate with relevant departments (Corporate Planning/MD/Marketing/IMD/Inventory Control/Sales) to formulate countermeasures for identified issues and establish sales plans based on validated demand forecasts.
5. Share sales tactics with stores based on the sales plan. Manage progress and revise plans based on actual results to achieve business targets (sales/gross profit/gross profit margin/end-of-period inventory).
6. Execute the PDCA cycle for steps 1-5 to accumulate knowledge.
・The Job Description may change within the scope of tasks related to each headquarters department due to department transfers or organizational changes.
■Career Path
・Upon joining, you will be responsible for merchandise planning for UNIQLO's Japan business, the largest globally, to gain a solid understanding of UNIQLO's core business fundamentals. Additionally, to gain foundational experience in store operations, which underpins this business, you will be assigned to a store for approximately six months to one year at an appropriate time after joining. (Details will be provided during the interview.)
・You will engage in the full range of operations across UNIQLO's apparel business value chain, from upstream to downstream. This involves not only understanding merchandise management but also executing it. Consequently, your career path is not limited to deepening expertise in merchandise planning; opportunities exist across various roles within UNIQLO globally, including MD, Marketing, IMD, International Business, and even CXO positions in overseas operations.
