Job Description
■Recruitment Background
GU, one of the Fast Retailing Group’s flagship brands, aims to become a true global brand by creating hit products that capture major trends, preventing stockouts of best-selling items, and delivering products and services that exceed customer expectations—all under the brand message “YOUR FREEDOM: The freedom to reinvent yourself.”
We are also expanding our e-commerce operations overseas and are seeking individuals who can drive the further evolution of our e-commerce business both domestically and internationally.
■Department Overview
The Japan Digital Commerce Department, to which you will be assigned, operates an e-commerce site that serves as GU’s largest flagship store globally, balancing sales maximization with branding, and aims to achieve sustainable and disruptive growth for GU’s overall business.
Within this department, you will be assigned to the Site Management Team, which is responsible for formulating overall e-commerce site strategies, planning, production, and operations. You will collaborate with various departments, such as Marketing and Merchandising, to drive projects forward.
■Job Description
As the person in charge of operating GU’s e-commerce site and app, you will work in tandem with Corporate Planning, Merchandising, Marketing, IMD, Inventory Control, and Sales to handle the entire process—from formulating strategies and creating production plans (by season, month, and week) for your assigned area, to execution and review—in a seamless, end-to-end manner. The scope of your impact covers a business volume ranging from tens to hundreds of billions of yen per year.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
・E-commerce Site/App Strategy Development: Based on site analytics, formulate strategies and tactics to achieve sales and profit targets and enhance branding; establish KPIs; and design A/B tests
・Content Planning, Design, and Production Direction: Based on market and site analytics, develop strategies and tactics for delivering the latest fashion information to customers and improving the site to make it easier to browse and purchase
・Search Optimization: Design and execute optimal SEO strategies based on internal and external search metrics; optimize on-site search (implement improvements to search assistance linked to business objectives)
・Project Management: Collaborating with relevant departments to manage the execution of the above tasks according to schedule
・Web Analytics and Reporting: Analyzing customer behavior on the site using Google Analytics 4 to ensure effective weekly PDCA cycles, and formulating and executing solutions to address identified issues
・UI/UX Improvement, New Feature Development, and Next-Generation Service Planning: Aiming to create a website/app that is easy for customers to navigate and purchase from, and regularly proposing improvement requests to the Fast Retailing IT department
etc.
*The Job Description may change within the scope of duties related to various headquarters departments due to department transfers or organizational changes.
■ Career Path
Depending on your experience and skills, you will initially focus on specific areas of work to gain familiarity. Subsequently, we expect you to expand your scope and lead teams. You will collaborate with various departments—including Business Strategy, IT, Marketing, Logistics, and the Customer Center—to acquire a broad range of knowledge and experience. Depending on your preferences, you may also be involved in directing overseas e-commerce rollout projects beyond Japan, providing opportunities to expand your scope of activity on a global stage.
