Job Description

Background of Recruitment
Fast Retailing Group is transforming itself to create a "new industry" based on the concept of "LifeWear" that goes beyond the boundaries of conventional industries. Among these, GU is operating its business with the goal of energizing people everywhere through the power of fashion. Now that g.u. has begun to be accepted as a brand loved around the world by offering global must-haves with Japanese quality and low prices, we aim to accelerate global growth by opening a store in New York in October 2022 and establishing a new merchandise headquarters in New York in September 2023, which will play a key role in product creation. Under the theme of "GO GLOBAL," GU is aiming to become a full-fledged global fashion brand, and we are looking for a person in charge of the R&D Department and Kids Division.

Organizational Overview
The R&D Department, to which you will be assigned, consists of designers and pattern makers from all departments, including men's, women's, kids', and merchandise, who are passionate about bringing the joy of fashion to everyone.
We research market trends and focus on new materials, designs, and manufacturing processes to create products that exceed our customers' expectations. Under the brand message "YOUR FREEDOM," we will enhance GU's brand value and achieve growth into a truly global brand through the development of products that are "fashionable + practical + affordable" that meet the needs of our customers.

■ Job Description
As the person in charge of the kids area, you will be expected to utilize your experience to promote radical design transformation and further quality improvement, and to develop our kids product lineup into a pillar of our global expansion. In order to achieve this, we expect you to accelerate the growth of both individuals, teams, and brands through training and development of the members of the kids domain, and to produce high results as a team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and proposing new products based on the latest trends in kids' fashion through global market research and trend analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the evolution of the product line into a globally popular kids' product line, while collaborating with the R&D organization in the U.S.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire product development process from ideation to commercialization. You will also visit our partner factories and sewing factories as necessary, and put your own will into the creation of highly finished products.
Team management: In order to advance product development at a global level, you will also be involved in human resource development and hiring of new human resources.

Job Description is subject to change within the scope of work related to each department of the headquarters due to departmental transfers and organizational changes.

Career Path
The New York Product Development Division will be launched in September 2023, and there will be opportunities to work with overseas members in manufacturing, and career paths at overseas bases.
You will have a chance to deliver products that you have planned and developed to customers all over the world. Depending on the product, the number of products sold may range from tens of thousands to millions, giving you the opportunity to experience manufacturing on a large scale.
Our corporate culture is one of constant and open communication with management and other departments, so depending on your skills and passion, you will be able to speedily promote the transformation of products and the organization. As an example, you will be able to work with the marketing department on measures to deliver the creator's ideas directly to customers, such as considering product descriptions on the e-commerce site and mobile apps.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Abilities/Experience
At least 10 years of design experience (preferably in the kids/baby, teens, and women's fields)
Creative thinking and design skills, ability to grasp global trends
Leadership and management skills to effectively promote projects through smooth communication and collaboration with team members and other departments.

The ideal candidate
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control, and a strong interest in the design and quality transformation of children's products.
Able to work as part of a team in order to make GU a brand loved by people all over the world.
Have an interest in new technologies and materials, and the ability to incorporate them into design.

Annual salary
Annual salary range: 7.2-14.94 million yen (monthly salary: 450,000-830,000 yen)
Commuting allowance, overtime allowance, etc. (*All in accordance with our company's regulations)
Bonuses: Semiannual bonus twice a year, year-end bonus (whether or not to be paid and the amount will be decided according to the company's performance and personnel evaluation)
