Job Description
■Recruitment Background
To reduce our environmental impact and achieve a net-positive impact, we have set the following targets: net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050; a 90% reduction in emissions from energy use at our company-operated facilities (such as stores and major offices) by 2030; and a 20% reduction in emissions* associated with the production of raw materials, fabric manufacturing, and garment sewing.
To achieve these goals, we are working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the production of natural raw materials (such as cotton, wool, and cashmere)—a key environmental hotspot in our supply chain—by introducing sustainable agricultural and livestock practices and restoring natural ecosystems. We are also working to achieve a net-positive business through nature-based solutions (NbS), such as “Beyond Value Chain Mitigation,” which is exemplified by carbon removal through forest restoration. For this position, we are seeking a candidate with professional experience and skills related to climate change and biodiversity who can work with us to advance NbS initiatives.
■ Department Overview
The Sustainability Department consists of four teams: the Business and Social Issue Resolution Team, the Factory Working Environment Transformation Team, the Global Environmental Management Team, and the Disclosure Team. This position is scheduled to be filled within the Global Environmental Management Team. Based on the Fast Retailing Group’s environmental policy, the Global Environmental Management Team is responsible for planning and executing projects in the following five priority areas:
・Addressing climate change
・Improving energy efficiency
・Water resource management
・Waste management and improving resource efficiency
・Chemical substance management
■Job Description
You will be responsible for the following duties:
・Strategic planning for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) initiatives related to climate change and biodiversity
・External disclosure and engagement related to initiatives such as TNFD and SBT for Nature
・Planning, implementation, and evaluation of nature restoration projects (such as afforestation) overseas
・Planning, implementation, and evaluation of the adoption of regenerative agriculture on cotton farms
・Planning, implementation, and evaluation of low-environmental-impact production methods at wool and cashmere ranches
・Collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including UN agencies and NGOs
・The Job Description may change within the scope of duties related to various headquarters departments due to departmental transfers or organizational changes.
