Job Description

■Recruitment Background

GU still faces many challenges on its path to becoming a true global brand.We are seeking a Grader to join us in advancing GU’s unique global challenge—enabling customers to enjoy fashion to the fullest with a minimal number of SKUs and affordable prices—through transformations in every aspect of the apparel business. This includes building a stronger management team through the recruitment and development of diverse talent; enhancing the quality of products and styling; creating store environments that make shopping easier for customers; improving the accuracy of inventory and sales planning; and establishing a flexible system for additional production.

■Organizational Overview
The R&D Department, to which you will be assigned, is home to designers and patternmakers from all divisions—Men’s, Women’s, Kids, and Accessories—who pour their passion into delivering the joy of fashion to everyone every day.
We research market trends and focus on new materials, designs, and manufacturing processes to create products that exceed customer expectations. Under our brand message “YOUR FREEDOM,” we aim to enhance GU’s brand value and grow into a true global brand through product development that achieves “fashionability + practicality + affordability” by capturing consumer needs.

■Job Description
With grading as the core of your role, you will work to improve quality, strengthen partnerships with partner factories, establish company-wide grading rules, and engage in planning and proposal development.
 (1) Size grading for women’s and men’s items
 (2) Formulation of company-wide grading rules
 (3) Deepening relationships with partner factories, including assigning work and providing feedback on finished products
You will also gather information on overseas markets and make proposals regarding next-generation product development.

Qualifications

■ Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience
・Experience in grading for women’s and men’s apparel (5+ years)
・Experience with apparel-specific CAD software

■ Ideal Candidate
・Individuals with a strong desire for growth and a keen interest in grading work, who wish to build a career as a specialist active in the global market

■Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Experience
・Experience in independently establishing grading rules
・Candidates with experience not only in grading but also in patternmaking
・Language proficiency is not required, but candidates must be willing to acquire English skills beyond basic conversational level

Work Conditions

■Employment Type
Contract Employee (Fixed-term contract with a 3-month probationary period)
(Subject to conversion to regular employment starting in the second year if performance and evaluations meet the criteria for regular employment)
*Employment contracts may be renewed based on the company’s operational needs and the employee’s performance (no automatic renewal)
*There is no upper limit on contract renewals (in terms of total duration or number of renewals).

■Annual Salary
・Annual Salary Range: 4.11–7.84 million yen (Monthly Salary: 270,000–490,000 yen)
・Allowances: Commuting allowance, overtime pay, etc. (※All subject to company regulations)
・Bonuses: Semi-annual bonuses twice a year, year-end bonus (eligibility and amount determined based on company performance and performance evaluations)
・Promotions twice a year (determined based on performance evaluations)
*Salary will be determined based on company regulations, taking into account your previous annual income and experience, in addition to the above.

■ Working Hours
Either standard working hours or a flex-time system
(Determined based on job duties, expected role, and assigned department; details will be provided during the job offer interview)

・Standard Work Hours System
8 hours of actual work and 1-hour break between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM

・Flexible Work Hours System
Standard daily working hours: 8 hours; Break: 1 hour
Core hours: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
Flexible hours: 6:00 AM–9:00 AM and 2:00 PM–8:00 PM (Overtime work may occur)

■ Holidays and Leave
Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays) Annual paid leave, special leave (including bereavement leave), childcare and nursing care leave systems, etc.
*Whether public holidays are considered days off in addition to the days off listed above will be specified individually in the contract for part-time employees
*In addition to paid leave, special leave is granted during the first and second half of the fiscal year (the number of days granted varies depending on employment status and the company to which the employee belongs)
