Background
Fast Retailing Group is expanding its business to become the world's No.1 apparel company. As we continue to expand our business, the development of completely new materials is an important element in our ability to mass produce highly fashionable products at low prices, always keeping in mind the latest global trends from the customer's point of view.
In particular, the development of functional and sustainable materials is an important theme that will lead to our competitive advantage because of the high degree of difficulty involved in developing and establishing a mass production system. In this position, we are looking for a person who can promote the development of materials that lead to competitive advantage in cooperation with internal and external partners as a core member of this department.
Outline of the Department
The mission of the Production Department, to which you will be assigned, is to achieve optimal quality, cost, and delivery so that customers can purchase what they want, when they want it, and where they want it.
The department is also responsible for maximizing sales and profits through the development of hit products, promoting initiatives that enable the growth of both Fast Retailing's partner material factories and Fast Retailing, and leading the strengthening of partnerships that ensure continued win-win growth.
The Production Department has staff in charge of both domestic and overseas bases, divided into the categories of men's wear, women's wear, and children's wear.
Business Description
The Production Department is in charge of the development of materials strategically from various perspectives in order to provide innovative products to the market. In the planning stage, we develop competitive materials in cooperation with fabric mills, and manage the entire production process from planning for mass production to quality control of the finished products.
The department also develops and improves materials for the next season. In cooperation with the Research & Development Department (the department responsible for planning and designing clothing), we develop materials with an eye on trends in order to create products that sell well by arranging customer requests, market trends, and the latest trends in the UNIQLO style.
We will also develop strategies and measures to strengthen partnerships with fabric mills and achieve optimal procurement on a global basis.
The job description is subject to change within the scope of work related to each department of the headquarters as a result of departmental transfers and organizational changes.

Required Experience, Skills and Abilities
Experience in planning and developing materials together with designers at textile manufacturers, trading companies, apparel companies, etc. for more than 5 years, or specialized knowledge and development experience of materials.
Project management, problem recognition, and problem solving skills
Ability to communicate in English without problems in reading, writing, and speaking in business
Experience, skills, and abilities that are welcome
Experience in development with overseas material factories is a plus.
Experience in material development from raw material development is a plus

Work Condition
Company name: Fast Retailing Co.
Fast Retailing in Japan, but you will be transferred to overseas locations (Shanghai, Vietnam, India, etc.). If you are working in Japan during the preparation period for overseas assignment, you will be transferred to the production department of either UNIQLO or GU.
Employment Status: Permanent
Annual salary
Annual salary range: 7.2-11.52 million yen (monthly salary: 450,000-640,000 yen)
Commuting allowance, overtime allowance, etc. (*All in accordance with company regulations)
Bonuses: Semiannual bonus twice a year, year-end bonus (whether or not to be paid and the amount will be decided according to the company's performance and personnel evaluation)
Promotion: Twice a year (determined according to personnel evaluation)
