Job Description
■Recruitment Background
The Fast Retailing Group is expanding its business with the goal of becoming the world’s No. 1 apparel company. As we pursue this expansion, developing entirely new materials is a critical factor in enabling us to produce high-fashion products that reflect the latest global trends at low prices and in large volumes, always from the customer’s perspective.
In particular, the development of functional and sustainable materials presents significant challenges in terms of R&D and establishing mass production systems, making it a critical area that drives our competitive advantage. For this position, we are seeking a core member of our department who can drive material development that contributes to our competitive advantage by collaborating with internal and external partners.
■ Department Overview
・The Production Department, to which you will be assigned, is committed to achieving optimal quality, cost, and delivery times so that customers can purchase exactly what they want, when they want it, and where they want it.
・Furthermore, the department leads efforts to maximize sales and profits through the development of hit products, as well as initiatives that enable mutual growth between our partner material manufacturers and Fast Retailing, thereby strengthening partnerships that allow for continued win-win growth.
・The Production Department has staff based at domestic and overseas locations, divided into Men’s, Women’s, and Kids’ categories.
■ Job Description
・To bring innovative products to market, we strategically develop materials from various perspectives. During the planning stage, we collaborate with material manufacturers to develop competitive materials, and we manage materials throughout the entire production process—from planning mass production to quality control of the finished products.
・We also conduct material development and improvements for the upcoming season. In collaboration with the Research & Development Department (the department responsible for apparel planning and design), we conduct trend-conscious material development to create marketable products by adapting customer requests, market trends, and the latest styles in the UNIQLO way.
・We formulate strategies and initiatives to strengthen partnerships with fabric manufacturers and achieve optimal global sourcing.
・Job responsibilities may change depending on department transfers or organizational changes, within the scope of duties related to each department within Headquarters.

Qualifications
■ Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities
・At least 5 years of experience working with designers on fabric planning and development at textile manufacturers, trading companies, apparel firms, etc., as well as specialized knowledge of fabrics and development experience
・Project management skills, the ability to identify issues, and problem-solving skills
・Ability to communicate fluently in English (reading, writing, and speaking) in a business context
■Preferred Experience, Skills, and Abilities
・Experience collaborating with overseas fabric manufacturers is a plus
・Experience in fabric development from the raw material stage is a plus
・At least 5 years of experience working with designers on fabric planning and development at textile manufacturers, trading companies, apparel firms, etc., as well as specialized knowledge of fabrics and development experience
・Project management skills, the ability to identify issues, and problem-solving skills
・Ability to communicate fluently in English (reading, writing, and speaking) in a business context

・Annual Salary Range: 7.2–11.52 million yen (Monthly Salary: 450,000–640,000 yen)
・Allowances: Commuting allowance, overtime pay, etc. (※All subject to company regulations)
・Bonuses: Semi-annual bonuses twice a year, year-end bonus (eligibility and amount determined based on company performance and performance evaluations)
・Promotions twice a year (determined based on performance evaluations)
*Salary will be determined based on company regulations, taking into account your previous annual income and experience, in addition to the above.
