Job Description

Background of Recruitment
The most important mission of our logistics and import/export functions is to "deliver the products our customers want, when they want them," while keeping abreast of changes in customer needs in a timely manner.
To achieve this mission, it is essential not only to manage the supply chain, but also to pay appropriate taxes in accordance with free trade agreements and customs laws of each country, and to seamlessly and timely link and manage information from factory shipment in the producing country to import customs clearance in the selling country. In September 2022, Fast Retailing established the Global Trade Management Office, which is derived from the Supply Chain Department and the Finance Department. As a member of the new organization, we are looking for someone who can lead in questioning the existing structure, strengthening the system, and building/improving the workflow.

Outline of the department
The Global Trade Management Office, to which you will be assigned, reports directly to the head of the logistics and finance function and is responsible for strengthening global customs compliance and pursuing cost reduction opportunities for all Fast Retailing brands (UNIQLO, GU, Link Theory, and PLST). In the medium term, we aim to achieve the following three goals.
(1) Tariff Engineering
Involvement from the product development stage to contribute to low-cost (i.e., low tariff rate) product development.
(2) Creating a mechanism to increase cost transparency
At overseas contract factories, clarify which raw materials are purchased from where, both domestically and internationally, to increase cost transparency.
(3) In-house customs clearance (≒Independent customs clearance management by shippers)
Lead customs clearance practices by ourselves in cooperation with forwarders, aiming to improve compliance and shorten lead time.

■Job Description
Depending on your experience, skills, and desired career, you will be asked to perform trade-related and customs-related tasks, as well as to build new organizations and operations.
The role will include: -Tax numbering and determination of each commodity, streamlining internal processes, and providing feedback and coordination with forwarders.
∙ Selection process for trade agreements and preferential tariffs, support in selecting appropriate FTAs and management of import/export regulations related to customs laws.
Communicate with customs authorities in each country (including AEO, advance instructions, requests for correction/reassessment, and response to follow-up investigations) - Provide timely and regular reports to top management on customs clearance management, educate and enlighten relevant departments and overseas operations, prepare documentation for each case, and optimize data storage as an information asset.
Job Descriptions are subject to change within the scope of work related to each department of the headquarters due to departmental transfers and organizational changes.

■Career Path
In cooperation with GHQ, there is a possibility to manage import/export across the group while stationed at group companies located in ASEAN, EU, and other countries.
In addition, you may support product development from the viewpoint of a customs specialist.
In addition, there are possibilities for career changes such as trade practice, business planning, and global taxation.

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of customs (rules of origin, classification, customs valuation, etc.)
At least 5 years of experience in trade related business (especially imports)
Business level of English (reading documents and conversational level as there is communication with customs, factories, forwarders, and various other parties involved)

Able to understand the supply chain structure, including trade practices, and to identify and solve problems.
Able to exercise leadership in various situations in order to introduce new systems.
Experience in cross-border reorganization

Annual salary
Annual salary range: 6,720,000-1,152,000 yen (monthly salary: 420,000-640,000 yen)
