Job Description
■Recruitment Background
“MADE FOR ALL.” While there are many different kinds of clothing in the world, UNIQLO has a completely new approach to fashion.
Clothing for everyone, transcending all distinctions such as nationality, age, occupation, and gender. We aim to create clothing that people around the world can easily purchase, that serves as a tool for their individual lifestyles, and that makes them look their best. The R&D Department is a team of experts dedicated to bringing our “LifeWear” concept to life through products. We are seeking new team members to help us further evolve the creation of clothing that embodies “LifeWear.”
■Organizational Overview
The R&D Department, to which you will be assigned, is a team of experts dedicated to bringing the “LifeWear” concept to life through products. In-house designers and patternmakers are active across six global locations centered in Tokyo (Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, London, New York, and Los Angeles). For this position, you will be part of the “Atelier”—a team based in Tokyo that contributes to product development by creating physical samples to ensure high precision.
■Job Description
In UNIQLO’s product development process, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of products delivered to customers worldwide. This position not only allows you to be directly involved in product planning decisions through sample creation but also enables you to contribute to improving mass-production quality and preventing quality issues before they arise.
・Take full responsibility for the entire sample production process—from sewing to finishing—based on patterns and specifications
・Collaborate with patternmakers and designers to enhance sample quality and propose improvements
・Contribute to improving mass-production quality by creating partial sewing samples and verification samples
・Handle the sewing of highly complex products and verify new specifications
・Create and modify industrial patterns using CAD software, based on your experience
・Share sewing techniques and expertise within the team and contribute to improving technical skills
*The Job Description is subject to change within the scope of duties relevant to each department of headquarters, depending on department transfers and organizational changes.
■ Career Path
Upon joining the company, you will be assigned to products based on your experience and areas of expertise; however, depending on your proficiency, you may eventually be responsible for all product lines.
