We are seeking a patternmaker to join us in creating clothing that delights customers around the world.

■Department Overview:
The R&D Department is a team of experts dedicated to bringing the “LifeWear” concept—the ultimate everyday wear—to life. Our in-house designers and patternmakers are active across six global locations centered in Tokyo (Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, London, New York, and Los Angeles).We plan products that match people’s living environments, lifestyles, and the times, and translate designs based on real-world needs into the “LifeWear” concept. By continuously providing well-thought-out, simple clothing, we aim to improve and enrich the lives of people around the world. Through clothing, we strive to continuously drive innovation in society.

■Job Description:
・For women’s apparel, you will lead the entire process end-to-end—from product planning to pattern and specification creation, communication with partner factories, sample review, and product launch in collaboration with the Merchandising and Marketing departments.
In particular,
 ・During the product planning phase, you will gather information on products not only from within Japan but also from overseas to develop products that are globally competitive.
 ・You will propose product specifications and fits that appeal to people all over the world.
 ・You will lead the creation of high-quality products by collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including MD, production, and designers within the R&D department.
・The scope of items includes all products sold in the women’s category—such as outerwear, bottoms, shirts, T-shirts, knitwear, innerwear, and loungewear—though your specific focus area will be determined upon joining, taking into account your areas of expertise.
・The Job Description may change depending on department transfers or organizational restructuring, within the scope of duties related to each department within the headquarters.

Depending on your aspirations and aptitude, there are diverse career opportunities available as a patternmaker, including switching item categories within the Women’s division, rotating to different gender and age groups such as Men’s and Kids, and pursuing career development at other global locations.

・After joining as a men’s patternmaker, the candidate was recognized for their ability to develop highly accurate patterns and make proposals grounded in an understanding of the production floor, playing a key role from the very beginning.
In their second year, they were stationed in Shanghai, closer to the production factories, where they led the creation of high-quality products by maintaining detailed communication with partner factories through specifications. Even now, they continue to take on the challenge of creating high-quality products for customers worldwide through collaboration with local overseas teams and production factories.

Qualifications

■ Required Knowledge/Experience/Skills
・At least 5 years of experience in creating specifications and patterns for women’s apparel
 *Experience with any type of fabric—woven, knit, or jersey—is welcome.
・Work experience using CAD (pattern making)
・Excellent communication skills in Japanese (equivalent to JLPT N1)

■Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Experience
・Work experience with CAD (grading), Excel, and Illustrator
・English proficiency: Daily conversational level (TOEIC 700 points) or higher

*A practical skills test may be conducted during the selection process.

Work Conditions

■Employment Type
First Year: Contract Employee (Fixed-term contract with a 3-month probationary period)
(Starting from the second year, subject to meeting the criteria for regular employment based on performance and evaluation, the employee will be converted to regular status)
*Employment contracts may be renewed based on the company’s operational needs and the employee’s performance (no automatic renewal)
*There is no upper limit on contract renewals (in terms of total duration or number of renewals).

■Annual Salary
・Annual Salary Range: 6.24–8.00 million yen (Monthly Salary: 390,000–500,000 yen)
・Allowances: Commuting allowance, overtime pay, etc. (※All subject to company regulations)
・Bonuses: Semi-annual bonuses twice a year, year-end bonus (eligibility and amount determined based on company performance and performance evaluations)
・Promotions twice a year (determined based on performance evaluations)
*Salary will be determined based on company regulations, taking into account your previous annual income and experience, not limited to the above.

■ Working Hours
Either standard working hours or a flex-time system
(Determined based on job duties, expected role, and assigned department; details will be provided during the job offer interview)
・Standard Work Hours System
8 hours of actual work and 1-hour break between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM
・Flexible Work Hours System
Standard daily working hours: 8 hours; Break: 1 hour
Core hours: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
Flexible hours: 6:00 AM–9:00 AM and 2:00 PM–8:00 PM (Overtime may apply)

■ Holidays and Leave
Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays) Annual paid leave, special leave (including bereavement leave), childcare and nursing care leave systems, etc.
*Whether public holidays are considered days off in addition to the days off listed above will be specified individually in the contract for part-time employees.
*In addition to paid leave, special leave is granted in the first and second halves of the fiscal year (the number of days granted varies depending on employment status and the company to which the employee belongs)
