Job Description

We are looking for a patternmaker to join us in creating clothing that delights customers around the world.

■Department Overview:
The R&D Department, where this position is based, is a team of experts dedicated to bringing the “LifeWear” concept—the ultimate everyday wear—to market. Our in-house designers and patternmakers are active across six global locations centered in Tokyo (Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, London, New York, and Los Angeles).Our mission is to plan products that align with people’s living environments, lifestyles, and the times, and to translate designs rooted in real-world needs into the “LifeWear” concept. We aim to continuously provide thoughtfully designed, simple clothing that enhances and enriches the lives of people around the world. Through our clothing, we strive to continually drive innovation in society.

■Job Description:
・For men’s apparel, you will take the lead on the entire process—from product planning to creating patterns and specifications, communicating with partner factories, reviewing samples, and launching products in collaboration with the Merchandising and Marketing departments.
In particular,
 ・During the product planning phase, you will gather information not only from within Japan but also from overseas to develop products that are globally competitive.
 ・You will propose product specifications and fits that appeal to people all over the world.
 ・You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders—including the Merchandising, Production, and R&D departments, as well as in-house designers—to lead the creation of high-quality products.
・The scope of items includes all products sold, such as men’s outerwear, bottoms, shirts, T-shirts, knitwear, base layers, and loungewear; however, your specific area of focus will be determined upon joining, taking into account your areas of expertise.
・The Job Description may change within the scope of duties related to various headquarters departments due to departmental transfers or organizational changes.

・After joining as a men’s patternmaker, they were recognized for their highly precise pattern development and ability to make proposals grounded in an understanding of the production floor, playing a key role as a core team member from the very beginning.
In their second year, they were stationed in Shanghai—closer to the production factories—where they led the creation of high-quality products through detailed communication with partner factories based on specifications. Today, they continue to take on the challenge of creating high-quality products for customers worldwide through collaboration with local overseas teams and production factories.

Qualifications

■ Required Knowledge/Experience/Skills
・At least 5 years of experience creating specifications and patterns for men’s apparel
 *Experience with any type of garment—woven, knit, or knitwear—is welcome
・Work experience using CAD (pattern making)
・Excellent communication skills in Japanese (equivalent to JLPT N1)

■Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Experience
・Work experience with CAD (grading), Excel, and Illustrator
・English proficiency: Daily conversational level (TOEIC 700 or higher)

*A practical skills test may be administered during the selection process.

Work Conditions

■Employment Type
Contract Employee (Fixed-term, with a 3-month probationary period)
(Depending on performance and evaluations during the first year of the contract period, if you meet our criteria for conversion to a regular employee, we will consider hiring you as a regular employee starting in the second year.)
* The employment contract as a contract employee will end after a one-year term and will not be renewed.
* If you are not hired as a regular employee, your employment contract will end upon expiration of the contract term

■ Annual Salary
・Annual Salary Range: 6.24–8.00 million yen (Monthly Salary: 390,000–500,000 yen)
・Allowances: Commuting allowance, overtime pay, etc. (※All subject to company regulations)
・Bonuses: Semi-annual bonuses twice a year, year-end bonus (eligibility and amount determined based on company performance and performance evaluations)
・Promotions twice a year (determined based on performance evaluations)
*Salary will be determined based on company regulations, taking into account your previous annual income and experience, and is not limited to the figures listed above.

■ Working Hours
Either the standard work hours system or the flex-time system
(Determined based on job duties, expected role, and assigned department; details will be provided during the job offer interview)
・Standard Work Hours System
8 hours of actual work and 1-hour break between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
・Flexible Work Hours System
Standard daily working hours: 8 hours; break: 1 hour
Core hours: 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Flexible hours: 6:00–9:00 and 14:00–20:00; overtime work may be required

■ Holidays and Leave
Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays) Annual paid leave, special leave (including leave for weddings and bereavement), childcare and nursing care leave systems, etc.
*Whether public holidays are considered days off in addition to the days off listed above will be specified individually in the contract for part-time employees.
*In addition to paid leave, special leave is granted in the first and second halves of the fiscal year (the number of days granted varies depending on employment status and the company to which the employee belongs).
