Job Description

■Recruitment Background
“MADE FOR ALL.” There are many different kinds of clothing in the world, but UNIQLO has a completely new approach to fashion.
Clothing for everyone, transcending all distinctions such as nationality, age, occupation, and gender. We aim to create clothing that people all over the world can easily purchase, that serves as a tool for their individual lifestyles, and that makes them look their best.
The R&D Department is a team of experts dedicated to bringing our “LifeWear” concept to life through products. We are seeking new team members to help further evolve the creation of clothing that embodies “LifeWear.”

■Organizational Overview
As the central department for clothing production, the R&D Department is staffed by designers and patternmakers.

■Job Description
・Apparel design (boys, girls, and baby)
・Product research
・Making proposals at product meetings
・New product development, product mix planning, seasonal and monthly styling, etc.
*The Job Description is subject to change within the scope of duties related to each department at headquarters due to department transfers or organizational changes.

■ Career Path
Upon joining the company, you will be assigned to a team responsible for one of the items listed above. Depending on your aptitude, there is a possibility of being transferred to a different team.

Qualifications

■ Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience
・Candidates with design experience in women’s, baby, girls’, or boys’ apparel (5+ years of professional experience).
 *We also welcome applicants with experience in women’s wear who are interested in girls’ or baby wear.
・Experience managing the entire process from product planning through design to mass production. (Experience designing products yourself, placing orders with factories, and overseeing production)

■Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience
・Language proficiency is not required, but we welcome candidates who are motivated to acquire English skills beyond basic conversational level.

■Employment Type
First Year: Contract Employee (Fixed-term contract with a 3-month probationary period)
(Scheduled to transition to full-time employee status in the second year and beyond)
*Employment contracts may be renewed based on the company’s operational needs and the employee’s performance (no automatic renewal)
*There is no upper limit on contract renewals (cumulative duration or number of renewals).


■Annual Salary
・Annual Salary Range: 6.72–11.70 million yen (Monthly Salary: 420,000–650,000 yen)
・Allowances: Commuting allowance, overtime pay, etc. (※All subject to company regulations)
・Bonuses: Semi-annual bonuses twice a year, year-end bonus (eligibility and amount determined based on company performance and performance evaluation)
・Promotions twice a year (determined based on performance evaluations)
*Salary will be determined based on company regulations, taking into account your previous annual income and experience, and is not limited to the figures listed above

■ Working Hours
・Either standard working hours or a flex-time system. (Determined based on job duties, expected role, and assigned department; details will be provided during the final interview)
・Standard Work Hours System
8 hours of actual work and 1-hour break between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM
・Flexible Work Hours System
Standard daily working hours: 8 hours; Break: 1 hour
Core hours: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Flexible hours: 6:00 AM–9:00 AM and 2:00 PM–8:00 PM (Overtime work may be required)

■ Holidays and Leave
Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays) Annual paid leave, special leave (including bereavement leave), childcare and nursing care leave systems, etc.
*Whether public holidays are considered days off in addition to the days off listed above will be specified individually in the contract for part-time employees.
*In addition to paid leave, special leave is granted during the first and second half of the fiscal year (the number of days granted varies depending on employment status and the company to which the employee belongs)
