Job Description
■Recruitment Background
At the Fast Retailing Group, employees worldwide are working together to expand and evolve our e-commerce business in order to deliver the new shopping experiences that our customers truly desire. “The clothes customers really want, right when they want them, and available to buy immediately”—to be the first in the world to realize this fundamental business principle, we strive to deeply understand customer needs and provide new shopping experiences both in-store and online. For this position, we are seeking a candidate to lead the evolution of UNIQLO’s e-commerce business in Japan and, in the future, to spearhead the global expansion of our e-commerce operations.
■ Department Overview
The Japan Digital Commerce Department, to which you will be assigned, is responsible for everything from strategy formulation to execution of the e-commerce business, including analyzing market trends and planning product strategies. We position our e-commerce business as the “world’s largest flagship store.” We aim for accelerated business growth by considering optimal product assortments from a customer-centric perspective, planning to prevent stockouts, and developing new product opportunities based on performance metrics and customer feedback.
■Job Description
As a product planner for UNIQLO’s e-commerce business, you will be responsible for creating business plans and devising and executing initiatives.
・Analyze market trends and customer needs to create business plans (production, sales, inventory, and sales absorption plans) for your assigned area
・Optimize inventory management and formulate sales strategies based on actual sales performance and demand forecasts to contribute to customer satisfaction and maximize sales
・Collaborate with relevant departments (Marketing, Production, Warehousing, Inventory Control, and Customer Service) to drive strategic initiatives aimed at achieving sales targets
・Train and develop staff responsible for overseas e-commerce to support business growth in target markets
*The Job Description is subject to change within the scope of duties related to each department at headquarters due to departmental transfers or organizational changes.
■Career Path
After gaining experience in UNIQLO’s Japan operations, you are expected to take on roles in overseas operations or with other brands. Examples of past hires are as follows.
—Case Study 1: Joined in 2020. After handling inventory management and product planning for the Japan e-commerce business, the employee spent approximately one year supporting overseas operations at the global headquarters. In 2022, they were assigned to the Philippines as the head of the e-commerce business, where they are currently contributing to building the local business and training staff.
—Case Study 2: Joined in 2017. As a project manager at the global headquarters, they led the launch support for new e-commerce markets and the deployment of e-commerce system infrastructure. They then worked on product planning and digital marketing for the Japanese e-commerce business. Since 2021, they have been stationed in India as the head of e-commerce business launch.
As described above, there are abundant opportunities to lead the global growth of our brand’s business over the medium to long term, such as in roles as e-commerce business heads for various countries and regions or as heads of new business development. We actively consider career development and internal transfers—including to other departments—based on your aspirations and aptitude.
