Job Description

■ Background of the Opening:
“LifeWear” refers to clothing designed to enrich the lives of everyone. Featuring simple designs and superior functionality, it is the “ultimate everyday wear” that suits people of all ages, cultures, and styles. This brand concept is beginning to gain acceptance worldwide, and our business is growing rapidly not only in Japan and Asia—which have traditionally been our core markets—but also in Europe and the United States.Aiming to become the “world’s No. 1 apparel information-driven manufacturer and retailer,” we are taking a multifaceted approach to not only drive sales and profitability but also to evolve the shopping experience and enhance customer satisfaction.

For this position, we are seeking a VMD Stylist at our global headquarters to communicate the “LifeWear” concept through the store environment. You will plan and develop styling and display methods tailored to each store’s unique character and regional characteristics, and by maximizing the appeal of our products through a creative lens, you will help further evolve the shopping experience.

■ Department Overview:
The Global IMD Department’s VMD Team, to which you will be assigned, is responsible for visual merchandising at UNIQLO stores worldwide. Through thoughtful spatial design and product displays, the team creates stores that are “easy to browse, easy to choose from, and easy to shop in” for customers, thereby achieving both the attractive presentation of our products and the maximization of sales.As the global headquarters, our responsibilities are wide-ranging—from conceptual design for approximately 2,500 stores worldwide to planning special events at flagship stores and conducting VMD training both domestically and internationally—all while communicating the “LifeWear” philosophy to the world through our store spaces.

■Job Description:
As a VMD Stylist candidate at our global headquarters, you will lead the planning, creation, and execution of VMD initiatives that maximize the appeal of our brand and products, collaborating with MD, R&D, Marketing, and Sales teams. You will develop styling concepts for UNIQLO stores worldwide and elevate in-store styling to the highest global standards.

Examples of your responsibilities include the following:
・Styling Development: Developing styling concepts that balance the “LifeWear” concept with fashion trends, and creating guidelines
・VMD Training: Planning and executing VMD training both domestically and internationally, as well as providing guidance and support to local organizations and stores
・Flagship Store Initiatives: Creating in-store initiatives, sales floor layouts, and styling for global flagship stores

・The Job Description may change within the scope of duties related to various headquarters departments due to departmental transfers or organizational changes.

Qualifications

■ Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities
・A deep understanding of lifestyle trends and fashion in the global market
・Practical experience as a VMD stylist in the apparel industry
・Experience providing guidance on styling and displays to store staff and supervisors
・Outstanding creativity in styling and VMD development, along with leadership capable of taking on a hands-on role
・Ability to articulate your own plans and deliverables, and to organize and convey key points clearly through explanation and presentation

■ Desirable Experience, Skills, and Abilities
・ Experience in product planning, such as in MD or design roles
・Experience using English in a professional setting (including experience working overseas)
・Practical experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Work Conditions

Full-time Employee (Permanent position, with a 3-month probationary period)

■Annual Salary
・Annual Salary Range: 6.56 million yen – 12.06 million yen (Monthly Salary: 390,000 yen – 670,000 yen)
・Allowances: Commuting allowance, overtime pay, etc. (*All subject to company regulations)
・Bonuses: Semi-annual bonuses twice a year, year-end bonus (eligibility and amount determined based on company performance and performance evaluations)
・Promotions twice a year (determined based on performance evaluations)
*Salary will be determined based on company regulations, taking into account your previous annual income and experience, and is not limited to the figures listed above.

■ Working Hours
・Either the standard working hours system or the flex-time system (determined based on job duties, expected role, and assigned department; details will be provided during the job offer interview)
・Standard Work Hours System
8 hours of actual work and 1-hour break between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
・Flexible Work Hours System
Standard daily working hours: 8 hours; Break: 1 hour
Core hours: 9:00–14:00
Flexible hours: 6:00–9:00 and 14:00–20:00; overtime work may be required

■ Days Off and Leave
Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays; national holidays are workdays) Annual paid leave, special leave (including leave for weddings and bereavement), childcare and nursing care leave systems, etc.
*In addition to paid leave, special leave is granted in the first and second halves of the fiscal year (the number of days granted varies depending on employment status and the company to which you belong)
