What led you to join UNIQLO?
I Joined UNIQLO in 2010 and back then UNIQLO was not that big as now, and In Bangladesh almost no one knew about UNIQLO. Honestly first time I came to know about UNIQLO through its Recruitment ad. I started searching in the internet to know about the UNIQLO and was amazed with the company’s focus on product customers applied for Production management Trainee Position in Bangladesh Liaison Office. Now as I look back, in 2010 UNIQLO was in Number 5, and now in number 3 as an SPA retailer.
How has working at FAST RETAILING helped you to grow personally and professionally?
One extraordinary thing about Fast Retailing is its continously changing. The learning opportunity that I had and still having to explore a global career changed me both personally and professionally. Since I joined the company in 2010, I got the opportunity to move to Tokyo HQ and then to store to get the retail experience in 2012.
At the beginning of 2014 I was again transferred to Shanghai to work for production again, this time in Production HQ. From Sep 2015. Looking at the journey I have been exposed to many cross functional departments, learned a new language, exposed to people from different locations which was an extraordinary experience for me to grow both personally and professionally.
What are some of the more memorable projects or noteworthy aspects of your work?
In 2015 I got the opportunity to join Future Global Leader program where my Mentor was Mr. Kunii Yoshihiro (group Officer) and we could share our initiatives directly with Mr. Tadashi Yanai. Currently I am involved in the same program and working on Training of the New UMC’s and also production lead time innovation.
This is very interesting and amazing because I can share my idea with colleagues from all around the world, from all departments. Also I can work with young UMC’s which is also a great learning for me.
What stands out for you about the work environment?
Again learning opportunity stands out for me. And also being part of the company’s global mission, and getting the moral purpose of what we do and how it contributes not only our customers but also the society always makes me proud to be part of Fast Retailing.
What do you want to achieve in the future?
I want to be Chief Supply Chain Manager for UNIQLO in future to source its products all around the globe and to supply all around the world. In order to share the happiness of wearing great clothing we have a long way to go and we need to make clothes from all around the world and also make them available all around the world.
What would you characterize as the strengths of FAST RETAILING?
The top three strengths of FR are: 1.Having a strong core value, 2.Ability to change, 3. Opportunity of growth no matter where the employee is from or which group that person belong.
What do you do to unwind and to balance your work with the demands of your life?
I love to work through people, knowing new cultures and taking new challenges.
Working in UNIQLO avails me all these opportunities. That also helps me to become a better person in my personal life.
