A joint venture was formed with Singapore's leading retailer Wing Tai Retail PTE. Ltd. in August 2008, and the first UNIQLO store was opened in Singapore in April 2009. The venture had opened a total of 5 stores by the end of December 2011, including one large-format store in Singapore's lively Orchard Road shopping district.
