Four Fast Retailing Group Companies to Open Stores in Shanghai in the Fall of 2013

June 24, 2013, Tokyo, Japan --Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. today announces that the four Fast Retailing Group companies of GU, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse tam.tam and PLST (plus T) will open their first stores in Shanghai, China, in the fall of 2013. For all four companies the entry into the Chinese mainland is a first.

GU, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Princesse tam.tam and PLST will open their stores inside the UNIQLO Shanghai Store, the global flagship scheduled to open this fall, with the aim of offering a pleasant shopping experience to customers from both China and abroad.

Overview of the companies


GU develops fashionable apparel for men, women and kids at amazingly low prices in Japan, harnessing UNIQLO's many years of experience as an SPA (Specialty-store retailer of Private-label Apparel). As a result, GU has become a full-fledged apparel-making business, from product planning through design and manufacture, inventory control and production adjustment, all the way to store operation. This represents an entirely new business model for a company in Japan offering extremely low-priced clothing.GU had 197 stores, as of the end of February 2013.

Comptoir des Cotonniers

Comptoir des Cotonniers (CDC) women's fashion brand emerged from boutiques that opened in 1995 in Paris, and in Toulouse in the south of France. CDC, a uniquely inspired brand known for its quality fabrics and sharp silhouettes, designs timeless collections full of French esprit for the modern woman.The company had 383 stores (including franchise stores), in 12 countries including in Europe, Japan and South Korea, as of the end of February 2013.

Princesse tam.tam

Princesse tam.tam is a French corsetry, lounge wear and swimwear brand. After winning acclaim in 1985 for lingerie that featured original prints and bright colors, Princesse tam.tam opened its first store in the Montparnasse area of Paris in 1987. The brand concept made by women for women brings a new and different way to view lingerie: fashionable and with a French expertise. Benefitting from the craftsmanship of France's corsetry industry, all the garments are made from the finest materials such as silks and cottons and crafted down to the smallest detail. Princesse tam.tam had 153 stores (including franchise stores), in 4 countries including France, Germany, Belgium and Japan, as of the end of February 2013.


Founded in 2002, PLST is a women's casual clothing brand with stores throughout Japan. It offers an extensive lineup of items that are extremely popular with a broad spectrum of customers. PLST apparel is casually fashionable and accentuates the wearer's unique personality. The brand designs and manufactures clothing in soft, comfortable materials, with great fits and beautiful silhouettes, by carefully applying detailed finishes to the items. PLST had 50 stores, as of the end of February 2013.
