UNIQLO Announces New Store Openings in New York

Tokyo, Japan, January 15, 2012 - UNIQLO today announces that as part of its plans to continue its U.S. expansion strategy, it will open two new shopping center locations at Palisades Center in West Nyack, New York, and Westchester's Ridge Hill in Yonkers, New York. Both stores are scheduled to open during spring 2013.
Commenting on the announcement, UNIQLO U.S. CEO Shin Odake says, "We are pleased to partner with both Palisades Center and Ridge Hill on our newest shopping center locations. After a successful launch this past autumn at Westfield Garden State Plaza, UNIQLO's prototype for our mall locations, we are continuing our commitment to roll-out locations at shopping malls across the U.S. With a dedicated fan base in the New York tri-state area, both Palisades Center and Ridge Hill are the natural next step in our expansion plans."
At 24,000 total square feet, UNIQLO Palisades Center will open first, in early March. Palisades Center is the eighth largest mall in the U.S. and sees around 20 million visitors each year.
UNIQLO at Ridge Hill, the newly developed and growing shopping facility, will occupy two levels and total 24,000 square feet. Scheduled to open in mid-spring, this will be UNIQLO's first outdoor lifestyle center location.
To staff the new stores, UNIQLO is currently hiring 100 full-time and part-time employees at all levels for each of the two locations. The stores will showcase the complete offering of UNIQLO products including men's and women's basics, Airism, Ultra Stretch denim, an endless array of colorful bottoms, as well as the spring kids collection.
There are currently three UNIQLO stores in New York City, one in Paramus, New Jersey, and one in San Francisco. The new stores will be the company's sixth and seventh U.S. retail locations.
