CSR Organization & Issues

There are many challenging issues that we must work on in order to achieve our corporate vision. First, we must build an organization to properly promote CSR, and then we must identify our highest-priority issues. In this way, we are making steady progress toward turning our vision into reality.

Organization

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities at FAST RETAILING have been overseen by a specialized unit since the 2001 formation of the Corporate Citizenship/Environmental Action Department. In 2004, this department was expanded and renamed the Group CSR Department. This department has a much broader mission than its predecessor, with responsibilities that include not just social contributions and environmental programs, but also compliance activities and other corporate governance issues.

The CSR Department designates specific issues to target and oversees the subsequent activities. To reach decisions concerning important CSR matters, FAST RETAILING has a number of committees that bring together company directors and individuals from outside the Group. These are the CSR Committee, the UNIQLO Code of Conduct Committee, and the UNIQLO Business Partner Transactions Ethics Committee.

CSR Issues

The following diagram shows our high-priority CSR issues relating to each stakeholder group.
CSR programs at this time mainly involve the UNIQLO business in Japan. We plan to extend the scope of CSR activities to include other FAST RETAILING Group companies, too.
