Uniqlo is an official partner of the headquarter of Special Olympics Nippon.
Special Olympics (SO) is an international sporting organization that provides persons with intellectual disabilities with opportunities to partake in sporting activities and holds tournaments where they can display their sporting skills.
Since 2002, UNIQLO has been an official partner of the headquarters of SO in Japan (SO Nippon). UNIQLO has donated uniforms to volunteers and supported the running of sporting events.
Support Initiatives to Date
February 2009 Winter Games in Idaho
Donated all 9 types of official uniforms for 87 members of the Japan team. Our employees also participated in the event as volunteers.
- March 2008 Winter National Games, Yamagata
We donated 3,000 uniforms for volunteers. 30 employees will volunteer as staff.
- October 2007 Summer World Games, Shanghai
We donated a total of 122 uniforms to the Japanese athletes who took part in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai.
- February, July 2007 Sporting Experience Caravan
We donated 600 T-shirts for volunteers at the Sporting Experience Caravan in the prefectures of Osaka and Ishikawa.
- Novenber 2006 Summer National Games, Kumamoto
Donated uniforms for the staff.
- September 2006 - 　Installation of charity vending machines
In support of the various regional branches of SO Nippon, charity vending machines have been installed in employees’ lounges at 172 UNIQLO stores and the Tokyo headquarters.
- April 2006 Memorial Hockey Tornament, Nagano
Donated T-shirts for volunteers.
- March, May, June 2006
Sporting Experience CaravanDonated uniforms for volunteers at the Sporting Experience Caravan in the prefectures of Aichi (March), Miyagi (May), and Tokushima (June).
- February 2005 Winter World Games, Nagano
Donated official uniforms for the Japanese team. 80 UNIQLO employees volunteered their time.
- January 2004 Winter National Games, Nagano
Donated uniforms for volunteers.
- June 2003 Summer World Games, Ireland
Donated official uniforms to the Japanese team

Donated T-shirts; approximately 250 UNIQLO executives and employees volunteered their time.
