Code of Conduct for Production Partners
In January 2004 we established a Code of Conduct for Production Partners that set standards for the various factories with which we do business. This marked the start of our ongoing collaboration with our business partners with respect to compliance issues.
To ensure that production partners are observing the Code of Conduct, we have external agencies perform monitoring on a regular basis (normally twice each year). At present, we are monitoring working conditions inside our production partners' factories, mainly those that are primary suppliers of UNIQLO brand apparel. If we discover cases where improvements are needed, a UNIQLO representative visits the factory to help determine the best solution.
We are currently studying how to gradually introduce this Code of Conduct at other production facilities we use, not just those in the apparel business, and also for suppliers of products that do not use the UNIQLO brand.
